Jean Luc Thunevin became a well known figure in the wine world in less than a decade, thanks to its successful garage wine, Château Valandraud.
It’s probably when tasting Le Pin, a Pomerol wine produced from a very small vineyard, that the desire to make a great wine by himself started. Obsessed by wine, opiniated and determined, he finally realized his dream in 1991, first vintage of Château Valandraud. This was the start of a fantastic adventure leading to a quick success.
It was Robert Parker who, having given Jean Luc Thunevin the nickname Bad Boy and black sheep, gave us the idea of creating the Bad Boy vintage, although in the United States, we market this vintage under the name “Bad Boy”.
Bad Boy was created in the “classic” Bordeaux appellation to respect the limitations of the regulations in force at the time (2000s) which prohibited innovative blends.
